Study tour at Narunyu with stream C (Pic and Explanation)

INTRODUCTION

Todays tour we were accompanied by Mr S Mosha and this time we were with Stream C. We left at our institute at 06:30 AM and we reached at Narunyu at 08:30. As usual student were introduced to Sister Mbunda there after schedule of activities went on.

RECORD KEEPING

This time student learnt the importance of keeping records. At the animal zoo there is identification of each animal with their names, date of birth, mating date and death date. So each animal will be known to its efficiency of producing milk per day as well as its status.

BREEDING

The present cattle milk are of fourth breed where by their ability to produce milk is a little lower compared to the first breed. There are two reason which can be able to explain this case.

a) Scientific reason

Phenotype- These are external factors which influence the internal factor not to work properrly in such a way that the abilty of cattle to produce more cattle reduced.

b) Economic reason

The law of diminishing return can justfy this case efficiently. As you add more unit of successive input (feeds, medicine, mating to produce cattle in order to collect more milk) it will reach a point the output (milk) will be reduced.

First breed were able to produce 20 litres each, while the fourth breed are able to produce 8-15 litres per day. As entrepreneur you cant go on with this project because it is invaluable.

Establishment

The Narunyu Sister Agricultural centre was established in 1988 by Father Leonard Kobe. Momentarily it has 680 cattle in which 50 are milk cattle while the rest are beef cattle, the institute has several farm structures such as haye storage, silo pitt, animal zoo and biogas system.
